Thread Question:

half-life 2 crashes on "loading" screen
so i install the game, get the updates and all that crap.

turn on the game; the valve screen, the copyright info, and then the main loading screen where it says loading at the bottom. during the loading screen, it crashes. how do i fix this?

P4 2.53 ghz
512 ram
radeon 9500/9700 pro
sound blaster live! card

i have no trouble running doom 3 on high settings, so why should i now? Any suggestions?

Normally HL2 should run without any problems? Make sure your graphics card is up to spec and that you have the very latest drivers for it, and, as suggested above make sure you have DirectX 9.0c which is currently the latest version of DirectX. Also ensure your PC is capable of running the game. HL2 demands a lot of resources and you need quite a powerful machine to enjoy the game with all graphics set to 'High'.

What OS you use? i would recommend running this game better on Win2000 than XP environment.
