Mine is the same problem! I get the same error with Windows XP SP2.

OS: Windows XP 5.1 (Build: 2600)
CPU: AuthenticAMD PentiumPro-class processor @ 1683 MHz [785780506624.000000 0] with 511MB RAM
Video: No Video
General protection fault!

At last i finally resolved the problem to this game. There has been a lot of discussions about this game with the same topic and same protection fault in forums. I am very disappointed that after searching all those forums, everybody was talking about the same problem, but nobody has come out with the solution to resolve this conflict. There are 3 possible solutions many people were suggesting.

1. SSE enabled
2. Flash Bios update
3. Windows 2000 operating system.

I skipped all those, and i installed windows 2000 operating system and NOW THE GAME WORKED FINE. I found no problems. The same game with Win Xp giving me above problem. So to those all of you WINDOWS 2000 is the solution

yeah! i just installed windows 2000 specifically for this game. It took about half an hour to install this OS. It ran smoothly without problems. Finally, i have not wasted money in purchasing this game. Thanks!!

Guys,

These methods could be a POSSIBLE fix for BIA, especially using XP

1. Make sure FASTWRITES and VPU recovery is turned off with video cards,
2. Try setting the AGP speed to 4x
Let me know if you get any other working solutions.

ATI Radeon Cards (Possible Fix)

If you get error messages of
History: UWindowsViewport::OpenWindow <- UGameEngine::Init <- InitEngine

Go into the advanced display properties for your video card, and under the Direct3D settings, change the Z-Buffer depth settings from 'enabled' to 'disabled'. Basically, you will need to disable the Direct3D Z-Buffer settings for your video card. This should resolve the problem
