Thread Question:

Currently running BF2 in Medium setting, 1280X1024 and no AA. Using 84.21 drivers. Vsync is off. The game usually starts off with fps of around 70-80 and as the game progresses it drops to between 10-30 making the game almost unplayable. I always make sure that all apps are closed while playing BF2. Also have 2 gig of ran installed. Any ideas why my 6800U might be performing so abysmally or could be problem lie somewhere else? I already disabled and then enabled virtual memory, thinking it was a hdd problem. Any help is appreciated.

hi geo, the problem i am thinking of might be of the sound that might slow down your video rate. did you try adjusting the sound to somewhere like medium or low settings?

Thanks for the reply pbu. Figured out how to resolve the problem. Due to build up of heat either my cpu and/or graphics card was throttling down to a lower clock speed. Thus the low fps. I haven't figured out which 1 yet. I realised this by chance. When I had my comp case open I would never experience low fps. Now i have to figure out which setting in bios is doing this and also improve the ventilation in comp case.

absolutely, heat can cause lots of problems. I have 2 fans running in my cabinet especially to drive out heat with CPU + AGP card. until now i havent noticed any sort of problems caused by heat. I believe using ventilator fans would help. Thanks.
