Thread Question:

Almost all 3d high performance games crashes on my PC. I tried running Doom 3, Medal of Honor Pacific Assault, NFS Underground 2 but it goes to black screen and crashes without giving any error message. All it says that "This program encountered the problem and needs to close".

I am rather very disappointed that these games still crash on my high end PC. My PC specifications are as follows.

* AMD Athlon XP 3200+
* ATI Radeon 9600 256mb
* 1GB RAM
* VIA Motherboard
* Sound Blaster Live!
* Win XP SP2 with all updates
* Direct X 9.0b

I would appreciate if somebody would offer me any advise as i am struggling with this problem.

I noticed that you have VIA chipset. Since all games crash on your PC, The most likely problem could be VIA chipset incompatibility/conflicts. VIA seems not very good and may conflict with your AGP card. You must disable all the onboard hardware like sound,video and network cards from your BIOS. Did you check Direct 3D enable from direct x diagnostic box ???

I further recommend you to install AGP driver for your VIA motherboard. This installs AGP to VIA CPU controller which will enable direct 3d from direct x.
