Thread Question:

i just purchased ATI Radeon X700 AGP 256mb card and i encountered this corrupt display problem. I see weird corrupted characters (with dashes and dots) during boot up and seems does not change when windows xp is loaded.

More problems i see when ati drivers are installed? has anybody fixed this problem. i tested my motherboard with fx5200 card and it seems there is no problem with motherboard either.

this could be a problem with your bios or power supply. try this.

1. check whether you have atleast 300w power supply.
2. check your bios settings. disable onboard video if present.
3. set initialize to agp in your bios.
4. see whether fan is working fine.
5. flash your bios to latest update.

i think xseries of ati radeon asks for additional power supply. make sure you have adequate power supply in your system.

i tried all the settings and checked my powersupply and found no problems at all. i think there is a faulty ram in the gpu causing this dashes and dots in the monitor. i will contact my vendor to replace it.
